COUPLE HIT OUT AT RESPONSE TO CAT DETERRENT COMPLAINT
A FORFAR couple who were visited by two police officers responding to a complaint have hit out at what they claim was an "abuse of police time and resources".
Vic and Linda Ross of Strangs Ley were asked by Tayside Police on Sunday evening to turn their ultrasound cat deterrent off following a complaint filed by a member of the public.
The couple have voiced their objection to the involvement of police and claim that the matter should have been resolved amicably had the complaint come to them directly.
Vic, a retired compositor, said: "The cat deterrent was only put up on the wall on Friday and following the complaint I have turned the device down but I object to the fact that the police took a complaint from someone who has not even spoken to us.
"If they had then we would have come to an arrangement. It is not really a police matter and it is an abuse of police time and resources."
Community councillor Linda said: "It was ridiculous. This is not what the police are there for. We had two police officers at our door on a Sunday night around 7.30pm and we wondered what they were doing here.
"We had my 88-year-old father visiting and the police turning up was quite intimidating. They even came round the back of the house. They turned the frighteners on us and were more or less warning us.
"We have nothing against cats and dogs and the cat deterrent is completely harmless to them. We have stayed here for around 18 months and we have never had any bother before."
