A FORFAR schoolboy has decided to get his long locks cut off to raise funds for Cash for Kids this Saturday.
Blair Butchart (11) has a full head of thick, long brown hair which has grown between four and five inches past his shoulders.
He got the inspiration for chopping his hair off when his friend’s father grew a beard for charity and donated funds raised to a cancer unit in Aberdeen.
Blair, who is at Langlands Primary, will be getting his hair cut at Hannam’s barbers in Forfar this Saturday.
The Cash for Kids charity was established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters.
Cash for Kids aim to deliver initiatives for sick and underprivileged children in our communities, to benefit local children and give the neediest a better and brighter future.
Funds raised go to help local children and young people who are suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance.
All the money raised on behalf of Cash for Kids stays in the area it was raised in providing a helping hand when and where it is needed most.
Collectively Cash for Kids raised in excess of £11 million in 2012.
Blair has so far raised in the region of £300 in sponsor money.
Blair’s father, Stuart Butchart (44) said: “Blair has been growing his hair for over four years. I am very proud of him and his decision to raise money for charity with it.”
Alison Carr the assistant co-ordinator at Cash for Kids said: “It is very special that Blair is doing this for a local childrens’ charity.”
