Canadian woman finds relatives

A CANADIAN woman has traced her relatives thanks to an article in the Dispatch.

Alison Miller (nee Watt) had moved from Dundee to Canada with her family when she was around nine or 10 years old. She said: “When I was eight my dad, George Watt, died and my mum remarried a few years later. “

Alison knew her uncle was Lewis Watt and that his children were Patricia and Louise Watt. She had an auntie also named Catherine but was not sure of her married name but believed it started with P. She knew she had cousins out there and had been desperate to make contact with them.

Alison wanted to track her father’s family down as they came from the Forfar area and some of them got in contact with her via Facebook.

She said: “Thanks to the article in the paper, I have found my relatives. A week after the article appeared in your paper, I received a Facebook friend request from someone who turned out to be my cousin. Within a couple of hours I received a second Facebook friend request from another cousin. I have also been in touch with my aunt via email.”

She added: “This is the best gift and I feel that a part of me that has been missing for years is now in place. My hope is that one day, my husband and I along with my brother and his wife will find a way to come back to Scotland for a visit and meet my relatives in person!”

If you have any further information please contact us and we will forward your details on to Alison.
