BEAR gritting policy defended
BEAR Scotland has defended its gritting policy after harsh criticism about the state of the A90 near Forfar on Sunday evening.
Motorists reported a number of cars skidding off the A90 Dundee to Forfar Road northbound and southbound, with cars going off at the Lochlands junction and Muirfaulds.
On Monday a BEAR Scotland spokesperson said: “Our dedicated winter maintenance team work 24/7 to keep the roads as clear as possible during winter conditions. They were out in force throughout yesterday (Sunday) and through the night and remain out this morning.
“When conditions are extreme it is an ongoing task. In the Tayside and Fife area 11 winter maintenance vehicles have been out continuously clearing snow and spreading salt supported by a further two fast track tractors which have also been clearing snow.
“As the weather remains wintery we urge motorists to drive to the conditions and plan ahead for their journey.”
