If you received any Christmas presents which weren’t quite right for you then your local Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland store would love to help you recycle them to raise much needed funds.
The CHSS store in Castle Street, Forfar, is encouraging people to make a fresh start this New Year by clearing out their unwanted gifts and donating them to benefit local people living with chest, heart or stroke illness.
As shop manager Tracey Brown explained: “If you got a gift you cannot use or perhaps need to clear some space after bagging some bargains in the sales then we’d love to receive your items to help fund our services.
“Unwanted clothing, books, ornaments, toys and games, CDs, DVDs etc can all raise valuable funds which can be worth even more to us if you choose to Gift Aid them, making every £1 raised worth £1.25 to the charity.
“Just pick up a form when you drop off your donated goods.
“We’d also welcome anyone interested in joining our friendly team of volunteers. Even a couple of hours a week spent sorting and pricing donations or serving customers is enough to make a real difference.”
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland improves the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information, and support in the community.
Tracey continued: “Our Communication Support Services (CSS) provide help and support to people who have had a stroke and their families and we also fund stroke nurses to help those coming home from hospital after a stroke.
“Our Advice Line (tel 0845 077 6000) offers confidential independent advice from professional nurses and there is a website where useful links can be found and publications downloaded at www.chss.org.uk”
