The new Boxercise class run by Miss Horn is proving a real hit for staff and pupils at Forfar Academy.

THE new year has started a health kick in Forfar Academy.

Pupils and staff alike have the opportunity to attend different fitness classes throughout the week to improve their fitness and have a good time.

A Boxercise class on Friday after school is open to staff and senior pupils. Miss Horn from the Business Studies department says: “I’ve just started this club and the uptake has been very successful, although there are still some places left. It’s great to see everyone working so hard and enjoying themselves at the same time.”

A Zumba class is also open to staff and pupils on a Wednesday after school in the boys’ gym, run by Mrs Young from the ASN unit. She is very impressed with the work ethic of staff and pupils who attend.

A cross-country club for all pupils runs on Thursday lunchtimes. This is in preparation for the Angus Schools’ cross country championship and the sponsored walk in September, where pupils have the option to run around the loch instead of walk. Mrs Richardson from the PE department runs this club with the help of senior pupil James Beattie and both are keen to add numbers to the very enthusiastic group of boys that already attend,
