£500K worth of cannabis found in Forfar
A cannabis cultivation with an estimated street value of £500,000 has been uncovered by Tayside Police officers during the search of an industrial unit in Forfar on Saturday afternoon.
Officers are in the process of forensically examining the unit and a police presence will remain in the area for some time whilst these investigations are ongoing.
Detective Superintendent, Willie Semple, said: This was a very sophisticated set up and a highly organised production site. The seizure will have a direct impact on the supply of cannabis not just in Tayside but further afield. All of these plants will now be destroyed and will not reach some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
“Increasing numbers of organised crime groups are diverting into this area of criminality, but we are determined to continue to disrupt such networks and reduce the harm caused by drugs.
“Anyone who has information that may assist officers with their investigation should get in touch with us on 0300 111 2222 or speak to any police officer. Information can also be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
