A big-hearted local law firm has backed a week-long campaign to address child poverty across Tayside and North East Fife.
Thorntons Solicitors is sponsoring the Cash For Kids Family Fivers appeal to raise £15,000 – which kicks off on Monday 21 March – where families are being asked to get together to donate £5 to help give children living in poverty the chance to have a family day out.
The firm has raised thousands of pounds for the charity over the years and continues its support for the campaign by acting as a collection point for donations and is hoping to welcome plenty of support from Arbroath locals.
Anne McKeown, partner at Thorntons’ family law team at the firm’s East High Street office, said: “We hope to receive plenty of local support for the campaign and welcome people into our offices to make donations and help around 400 families to enjoy a day out together.”
Lynda Curran, fundraising manager for Cash For Kids, added: “Hundreds of families across the Radio Tay area can’t afford to take their children out for the day as a result of financial pressure caused by redundancy, minimum wage and disability.
“We want to put the fun back into our local families and Thorntons has once again shown its commitment to helping us improve lives within our own community.
“Spending quality time together and enjoying a day out are key parts of growing up and we hope people will dig deep to help others who are less fortunate and pop into Thorntons’ offices to donate.”
Donations to the campaign can be made at any Thorntons Solicitors office, at Radio Tay, North Isla Street, Dundee or online at www.tayfm.co.uk/cashforkids or www.justgiving.com/familyfivers from Monday 21 March until Friday 25 March inclusive.
