One of Tayside’s leading law firms is celebrating after being named Scotland’s top fundraiser in a UK-wide charity Wills campaign after handing over £12,000 raised by clients across its offices.
Will Aid is a charity partnership between solicitors and UK charitable organisations, and Thorntons, which has raised more than £100,000 through charity Wills campaigns over the last 10 years, even reported an approximate 20 per cent increase in Wills made in 2010, coming out top of all the participating firms in Scotland and third in the UK overall.
Designed to raise awareness of the importance of making a Will, the initiative has been running throughout the month of November for two decades and has become the UK’s most successful fundraising Will scheme which supports nine UK charities including the British Red Cross, Help the Aged and the SSPCC.
Nick Barclay, said: “Will Aid provides an excellent opportunity for people to seek a solicitor’s professional advice while helping a deserving cause at the same time.
“Often complicated and unnecessary problems can arise as a result of not having a Will, but the campaign allows people to save money and gain peace of mind over their affairs and we are proud to have been supporting the Will Aid campaign since its early beginnings. It is thanks to our clients that we have collected such a magnificent sum for the charity again this year.”
