As part of the ongoing commitment to support the local communities it serves RBS has launched CommunityForce – a new initiative to help support local charities, organisations and groups to raise publicity for their work and attract volunteers.
The programme also provides the opportunity to receive funding through our Community Force awards.
In each of our 158 individual CommunityForce areas in the UK RBS will be offering three local projects the chance to win awards of £6,000 each.
One of the funds, totalling £18,000, will be available to communities in Angus, with three separate projects in line to receive an award.
Organisations and charities can apply for a CommunityForce award at www.rbs.com/community force between now and September 4.
An on-line public vote will then decide on the three organisations to each receive a £6,000 award, ensuring the projects which are recognised are those local people who they feel will benefit the community most.
The new CommunityForce initiative will offer organisations more than just financial support.
By applying for the awards local charities and projects will become part of a local online network giving them greater visibility and the opportunity to attract volunteers from the local area.
RBS staff will also be getting involved by volunteering their time and expertise, supporting our commitment to deliver 3000 days of community volunteering in 2011.
Pamela Smart was recently appointed Local CEO for RBS in Angus.
Her role is to lead the bank in the local area, helping her branches to deliver the bank’s Customer Charter and support the aim of becoming the UK’s most helpful bank.
Pamela said: “RBS has a long and proud history of supporting communities in Angus and I’m delighted to launch CommunityForce locally.
“Giving the community the chance to vote for the award winners will ensure these funds go to the organisations local people value the most.
CommunityForce is part of our ongoing commitment to support the communities where we live and work; not just by donating funds, but also through volunteering time and expertise.”
