The Inner Wheel Club of Kirriemuir raffled off a specially designed quilt raising £243 for their charity of the year - Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

The quilt was part of a handmade collection by Heather Sheerin, chairman of the Inner Wheel District One in the North of Scotland.

District One covers 27 clubs, all of which were gifted a ‘Stars of Friendship’ quilt by Heather to use to help raise awareness and funds to support people in Scotland with chest, heart and stroke illness.

The Kirriemuir club, which meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Thrums Hotel, spent time promoting CHSS services while selling raffle tickets to the local community.

Helen Shearer, president of the Kirrie club, said: “We were very happy to be able to support CHSS in this way and have enjoyed raising funds and awareness. We look forward to hearing the final total across District One later this year.”

Katie Jones, fundraising officer for CHSS in the North East, met with ladies to gratefully accept the cheque

She said: “It is wonderful to have Helen and the rest of the club’s support. This donation is very gratefully received and will help us to continue vital support to those in the community who suffer from chest, heart and stroke illness including the Angus region.
