Kirrie Rotary Club chalks up fifty years

Kirriemuir Rotary Club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a charter anniversary dinner in Kirriemuir Town Hall on Saturday night.

One hundred and sixty three Rotarians and guests enjoyed an extremely hospitable and entertaining evening, with some excellent speeches from the top table.

There were Rotarians present from nineteen other Rotary clubs, including Arbroath, Banchory, Blairgowrie, Brechin, Carnoustie, Dundee, Forfar, Forres, Inverkeithing, Kilwinning, Kissimmee (Florida), Loch Ness, Montrose, Musselburgh, Pitlochry, Portlethen, St Andrews Kilrymont, South Queensferry. and Stonehaven.

Forfar Rotary club, who are Kirriemuir’s Mother Club, were well represented and Mike Cummings from the Forfar club, proposed the toast to the Kirriemuir club. The principal after-dinner speaker was Emil Pacholek, who entertained the assembled Rotarians and guests with a highly amusing, entertaining and well rounded after dinner speech.

Many charities benefit from Emil’s after-dinner speaking as all his fees are donated to charity.

Also at the top table was the District Governor for Rotary district 1010, Iain MacDonald. This will be remembered as a highly entertaining and enjoyable evening in celebration of Kirriemuir Rotary Club’s 50th anniversary and was enjoyed by all.
