Kirrie members hear talk on Church around the world

Kirriemuir Probus Club held its annual general meeting and elected office bearers for the session 2015/6.

They are as follows: chairman, Howard Rippiner; vice-chairman, Ronnie Skene; and secretary / treasurer, Norman Findlay.

The Reverend John Orr presented an illustrated talk on ‘The Church of Scotland around the World’.

He described the background to the establishment of churches in Europe and further afield.

Whilst originally providing a missionary service, many churches now cater for social needs such as refugees and homeless immigrants, thus maintaining a relevance to current day conditions.

Probus member Bob Stewart proposed a vote of thanks for a very interesting talk.

This was the last meeting of the current session of Kirriemuir Probus Club. Meetings will resume on September 2 at the usual venue of the Thrums Hotel.
