AS a fund-raiser for the annual Kirriemuir Festival a St. Andrew’s Day fund-raiser has been planned.
It will take the form of a concert in Kirriemuir Old Parish Church hall on Saturday, November 26 from 7.30 pm.
The artistes include the following:- Joe Aitken, one of the finest exponents of north-east bothy style, a favourite singer at festivals throughout Scotland and chairman of the local Kirriemuir Festival.
Scott Gardiner & Johnny Kemp: One of Scotland’s top traditional singers, Scott is joined by guitarist Johnny, who plays bass with ceilidh band Teannaich, and is involved with various musical projects in his native Anstruther.
Marjorie Hughes from Forfar, who sings with Angus Folk, has been a previous winner of the singing competition and guest artiste at Kirriemuir Festival.
Andy Lyons & Ian Main: Andrew is a musician from south of the border who has played fiddle for most of his life but also plays the mandola, cittern and mandolin, while Ian is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Edinburgh’s southside.
Joyce Ramsay and George Borthwick : Joyce is an accomplished accordionist from Meigle, accompanied on drums by George, an Orcadian with long term Kirriemuir residency, who has played with many of the top Scottish dance bands and instrumentalists. Tickets for the St. Andrew’s Day concert are available for purchase from George Rennie’s shop, in St. Malcolm’s Wynd, Kirriemuir.
