Forfar’s elected members joined together on Saturday to officially open a new playpark in a major housing development in the east end of town.

Councillors Ian McLaren, Lynne Devine, Glennis Middleton and Colin Brown joined Robin and Mark Guild of Guild homes (Tayside) Limited to officially cut the ribbon to declare the facility open.

On the eve of the opening Mark Guild said: “The Restenneth Fields development amounts to 209 houses and is now sold out.

‘‘Construction works are now expected to be complete in late summer 2016, less than four years from start to

finish.

“The opening of the play park completes another important part of the development and provides a safe place for children to play within the development.

“Restenneth Fields has been a great success and a big thank you from Guild Homes to the Forfar local councillors and our many customers for their support.”

In declaring the playpark open, councillor Brown said: “This play park is courtesy of Guild Homes and is very much appreciated by Angus Council.

“This is a very generous gift to the people and you the children of this area.

‘‘I hope you will take on board and look after the park for years to come.

‘‘If you see anyone damaging anything in the park you need to tell your mums and dads as this is a play place for you the youngsters of this area.

“Guild Homes started this site in February 2012 when we were present to dig the first sod.

‘‘Now, three years later, we have this fantastic site with over 180 homes completed and the remainder to be finished by summer next year.”
