THE STORY of a Forfar cat looking for a new home has a happy ending.

Jim, a ginger tom cat, lived with his ‘mum’ at a care home in Forfar. Sadly she now has dementia and is no longer able to look after him.

It was because of this that the difficult decision was made by her daughter to try and find a new home for Jim.

An advert in the Dispatch a few weeks ago read: “A home for Jim - I live with my Mum in Forfar. Mum now has dementia and can no longer look after me. The staff at the home she lives in have been helping her feed me but they are no longer able to do this so I have to be re-homed.

“I arrived through the window at mum’s flat one hot summer day almost two years ago. It was like I was heaven sent for Mum as she had to give up two cats when she went into care. This caused her so much pain so when I arrived she thought her prayers had been answered.

“I adore mum and am very protective towards her - I know she is not well now but I still love her.”

Jim’s ‘auntie’ Iris Miller said that they had a tremendous response to the advert but Jim has now find a perfect new home.

Iris said: “We have found him a lovely new home and he has settled in and he adores them and they adore him.”

There was drama, however, when Jim first moved in as on his first night he escaped through a locked cat flap! Despite a panic from his new owners Jim turned up back at their house the following night safe and sound.

Iris added: “I would like to send my sincerest thanks to everyone who contacted us. We received many kind offers. It was heartwarming to see we have so many kind people in Forfar.”
