MEMBERS of Forfar and District U3A enjoyed an interesting and very informative talk on Angus Care and Repair last Wednesday.
Scott Malcolm, depute manager, astonished members with pictures and examples of the safety hazards faced by people in their own homes.
Every year an astonishing one in three people over the age of 65 suffer a fall in their own home.
These falls are often the result of tripping hazards or the lack of proper supports, such as grab rails.
Scott also highlighted the fire danger from overloaded or DIY electrical connections.
Angus Care and Repair give free confidential advice on all aspects of domestic safety and security for older or disabled people.
Additions or modifications can often be done at little or no cost to the householder.
The service also includes small essential repairs that can be undertaken by skilled tradesmen.
Probably everyone in the audience left the meeting with considerable food for thought and wondering if they should be getting in touch with Angus Care and Repair at their premises in Carseview Road, Forfar.
