In this week’s Forfar Dispatch and Kirriemuir Herald, a Forfar fund-raiser is bowled over by a letter from Prince Charles while the public in both communities has been thanked for its contribution to and support of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.

A study is under way in the Forfar and Kirrie areas to monitor the populations of red and grey squirrels, to which readers can contribute, and Angus Council has launched a new poetry competition to coincide with this year’s Tartan Day celebrations.

We also have features about the bicentenary of Forfar botanist George Don and about how, as the Dispatch enters its 130th year, the paper celebrated its centenary.

On top of that we have the usual weekly round-up of football and curling action, reports from local sports clubs and the latest film, DVD and music reviews in our entertainment section, The Guide.
