LOCAL people have joined forces to raise funds to place a bench in honour of a much-loved Forfar dog.
Giggsy, who was owned by Forfar Athletic groundsman Martin Gray, sadly died a few weeks ago.
As she was such a familiar face to the people of Forfar and Loons’ fans, a bench collection has already proved very popular.
Martin said that the bench will be placed at the crossroads going into Carseview Road as it was a place where she always stopped to see where they were going next - home or the pub.
A collection was held outside Station Park on Saturday before the derby fixture against Brechin City with £265 raised.
In addition to this £85 was raised with a collection at The Plough Inn.
Martin also says that a donation of £50 will come from a “loyal Forfar fan”.
A total of £500 will need to be raised to purchase the bench and donations are still gratefully accepted. If you would like to donate contact Martin Gray via Forfar Athletic.
Martin said: “I would like to thank everyone for their donations and kindness.”
