DAYZEE, the Mountains Animal Sanctury mascot will be celebrating not only her birthday this week but also the launch of a brand new campaign.
The Dayzee Appeal will launch this Thursday (June 9) to raise funds to ensure a long term future for the 140 horses, ponies and donkeys that have made the sanctuary a home.
Each week the sanctuary receives five calls from horse owners around the UK looking for homes for the animals they can no longer keep.
It has now had to close its doors to non-welfare cases as it faces a financial shortfall and struggles to afford to care for the animals currently in its care.
Caring for horses, especially those who have been cruelly treated is expensive. The Dayzee Appeal is being launched to seek people’s generosity both financially and through volunteering.
In the last year alone the sanctuary has taken in 36 horses including campaign mascot Dayzee, an 11-month-old Fallabella who was born with a luxating patella resulting in her hips dislocating easily.
To celebrate her first birthday and the launch of the campaign she will be joined by Tay FM breakfast show presenter Stuart Webster and pupils from Tannadice Primary School.
