The Patient Participation Group of the Academy Medical Centre, together with the practice, is joining similar groups throughout the UK in promoting National Patient Participation Awareness week from June 2 to 7.
The group has two health information events planned - the first on June 24 on memory loss and mental health and the second in August is about women and men’s health.
Dr Kay McCallum, senior partner at the practice, said: “The partners feel the support provided by the PPG has greatly enhanced effective ways for patients and GP surgeries to work together to promote local and national initiatives for improving health, quality of and access to care. We are indebted to our PPG’s continued valuable support.”
Sandy Watson, chief executive of NHS Tayside, said: “The PPG is to be commended on the kind of work it is doing in the Academy Street Practice. NHS Tayside is committed to a patient centred approach and we very much welcome the assistance of groups like this in providing information not only to patients but also, on behalf of patients, to the clinicians in the practice.”
The PPG is planning fund-raising events to aid projects for the benefit of patients and is seeking more volunteers for the information desk and the committee. If you can spare a couple of hours a week/month then contact www.academyppg.co.uk or the secretary APPG c/o Academy Medical Centre.
