Did you know that in Scotland 100,000 people everyday are struggling to breathe due to chronic chest illness?
Every 45 minutes someone will have a heart attack and every 45 minutes someone will have a stroke.
If you or someone you know is affected by any of these health problems and would like information about what support is available, then Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland can help you.
The charity is giving everyone in Forfar the opportunity to talk to one of its Advice Line nurses who offer a listening ear and provide confidential advice and support to people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions, their relatives and carers. The service is available on 0845 077 6000 and is open Monday through Friday 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The nurses are happy to call people straight back to keep the costs down on their phone bills.
The CHSS Advice Line nurses advise people about all aspects of living with chest, heart or stroke illness, reducing your risk factors, or supporting a loved one. The nurses can also send out free publications and refer callers to support groups, befriending or local services.
To promote the CHSS Advice Line’s 18th birthday and “Coming of Age” this year, the charity’s store in Forfar is dressing its windows with balloons, posters, and information about the Advice Line service. During the first two weeks of October, shop staff will be available to answer questions about the Advice Line, as well as to hand out bookmarks, wallet cards and postcards with all the information visitors need to contact the nurses to ask about chest, heart or stroke illness.
There’s never been a better time to pop along to your local CHSS store, where as well as picking up a bargain - and hopefully dropping off some donated goods to boost the charity’s funds - you might just pick up some advice which could help you stay healthy and save your life.
