Local company Guild Homes (Tayside) Limited has dived in as major sponsor of this year’s annual Splash charity swim event.

A long-term supporter of the popular fund-raiser, the company presented a cheque to the organisers on Thursday as final preparations take place for this year’s swimathon on Saturday, September 24.

Mark Guild presented the cheque to Splash vice-chairman Derek Thompson.

Guild Homes are the main sponsor and the committee thank Mark for his very generous donation.

Splash will take place at Webster’s Sports Centre’s swimming pool in Kirriemuir.

The competition will see teams of six to eight members, aged eight and up, competing to see who can swim the most lengths in 25 minutes.

Swimmers and lane sponsors will also be raising money for a selection of local and international charities, including The Scottish Air Ambulance, The Angus Toy Appeal, Ronald McDonald House, Operacion San Andres and Dr Graham’s Homes. Any swimmers wishing to take part can pick up registration and sponsorship forms from the reception at Webster’s Sport Centre.

If you don’t have enough people to make up a team yourself, please contact the organisers and they will try to pair you up with another team.

They are also still looking for local businesses to be lane sponsors, stall holders for the indoor market and for volunteers to help run the event on the day. Anyone who can help is asked to contact kirriemuirsplash@gmail.com
