Great success in Rock Challenge!

Forfar Academy pupils participated in the first Angus heat of The Rock Challenge competition on Tuesday, February 14, competing against Arbroath High, Webster’s, and Brechin High.

Rock Challenge UK is a series of performing arts events which promotes healthy life choices.

The Forfar Academy crew picked the issue of ‘peer pressure’ and told the story through a ‘Witch Me Not’ performance telling the story of a girl under peer pressure from the Forfar Witches.

The majority of the pupils involved in the group were from S1 and S2, so they felt that ‘peer pressure’ was an important issue in their school lives.

After months and months of preparation and hard work by both the staff and pupils involved, they eventually had the opportunity to perform their choreography and story to the audience at the Webster Theatre in Arbroath.

The group pulled off the performance of their lives and managed to gain five awards from the night.

They also managed to gain second place overall on the night, and have given themselves an opportunity to qualify for the national final.

The awards they achieved were: Best Hair Design, Best Staging, Best Performance Skills, Award for Concept Originality and Best Video Performance.

Overall the whole experience was a huge success for the staff and pupils involved.

The staff involved would like to thank everyone who helped out with the performance and fundraising events.
