GLAMIS Castle will play host to a new charity event later this year in conjunction with the Sue Ryder charity.

The Starlight Hike at Glamis Castle will take place on September 1 in the form of a 10km walk through the grounds.

The walk is just one of many taking place throughout the whole of the UK during the month of September and it is hoped over £1 million will be raised in total.

By supporting the walk at Glamis you will help Sue Ryder to provide care and support for people at a very challenging time in their life through a range and choice of srvices shaped around the personal care needs of the individual.

Emma Wilson, Events fundraiser for the charity, said: “We want to encourage people to support us before they come to rely on support from Sue Ryder or similar organisations.

“Our new Starlight Hike events, can encourage people to see fundraising in a whole new light, providing the chance to experience one of the country’s most stunning landmarks, by the light of the stars.

“The money we hope to raise from our Starlight Hike event will have a significant impact on our ability to fund the growing demand for individualised expert care for people living with complex conditions such as, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Huntingdon’s disease, motor neurone disease and brain injury.

“We are really excited that Scotland is hosting the first of our new Starlight Hike events at Glamis Castle and know it’s going to be a great night out for all the family and one of the most stunning venues in Scotland.”

The walk opens at 9.30pm with local entertainment before the 11pm start time. After walking the 10k you will be greated with a well deserved bacon roll and hot drink along with a memento of the night.

Transport will be arranged to get you to Glamis.
