THERE was further commuter misery for motorists this morning after a gas leak was reported at Padanaram.

The Forfar to Kirriemuir Road was closed and diversions put in place before seven this morning.

A spokesperson for Scottish & Southern Energy has confirmed engineers are currently working at the site, and that the road would be closed for the rest of the day.

She told the "Dispatch and Herald": "Engineers are currently on site at the moment trying to find the source of a gas leak in one of a medium pressure gas mains in the area.

"The road has been closed for safety reasons, and is expected to remain closed for the remainder of the day.

"However, it will be re-opened as soon as possible after the problem has been resolved.

"We apologise for any in-convenience caused."
