A busy Cortachy farmer’s wife, gardener and B&B owner is opening her garden in aid of Lippen Care’s Strathmore Hospice.
With the help of her extended family, well known in the Angus farming community, Susan MacLaren will open the farmhouse garden at Muirhouses on Sunday, June 1 from 1 pm to 5 pm. In addition to a tour of the garden, the open day includes afternoon tea and a chance to buy plants, home baking and preserves.
The farm is situated one mile outside Kirriemuir on the B955, well sign-posted on the edge of town. Mrs MacLaren’s horticultural talents are well known to anyone familiar with the SWRI federation bulb show, and local charities regularly benefit from her stock of colourful streptocarpus. In the garden, she indulges in her love of herbaceous perennials.
Susan said: “My family and my guests get so much pleasure from the farmhouse garden which looks out over the Angus hills in one direction and Kirriemuir golf course in the other, that I thought if I could let the public come in and share it, and raise funds for our local Lippen Care in the process, everyone would benefit.”
