Fund-raising for this year’s “Heartie Thrang” is well underway, with a £100 cheque presentation from Kirriemuir Rotary Club.
The “Heartie Thrang” is an event for people over 50 and takes place every two years in different parts of Angus, giving people aged over 50 an opportunity to try out all kinds of activities.
The event has been praised by all who have attended previously, having given them an opportunity to follow a new interest or activity which they may otherwise not have considered.
There are four broad themes: active life, new skills, intellectual pursuits and meeting new people.
A cross section of the activities available this year are archery, indoor pool canoeing, tai-chi, line dancing, life drawing, glass painting, felt making, seated exercise, history walk round Kirriemuir, nature walk round Kinnordy Loch and horse riding.
Previously held in Forfar, Arbroath, Brechin and Monifieth the event will this year be taking place at Webster’s High School, Kirriemuir on July 28.
The £100 received from the Kirriemuir Rotary Club will go towards the £2,500 to £3,000 cost of the project which will help to cover costs including fees, transport, insurance and hire of premises.
