Free copies of book on offer

Angus South MSP Graeme Dey is inviting people to drop by his constituency office on Arbroath High Street to collect their free copy of ‘My Favourite Place’ as part of Book Week Scotland, which runs this week to December 2.

This year Book Week Scotland has teamed up with the Scottish Book Trust to distribute over 150,000 copies of “My Favourite Place”, a collection of stories about Scotland featuring a range of writers including Michael Palin, Newtyle-based James Robertson, Liz Lochhead, and including exclusive artwork from Alasdair Gray.

Mr Dey said: “Reading is one of life’s great pleasures, and I would encourage anyone interested in getting their free copy of ‘My Favourite Place’ to stop by my office - 282 to 284 High Street - in Arbroath.

“Not only is Scotland famed for producing some of the world’s greatest literature, including Kirriemuir’s own JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan, but it is a location writers, artists, and cultural figures across the world look to for inspiration.

“Perhaps more than any other medium, a good book can take people into an entirely different place, whether your penchant be for fiction, travel writing, biographies, or just to learn something new. With the winter nights upon us now is the time that a lot of people choose to curl up with a good book.

“I’d encourage anyone interested in sourcing reading material to do so via this opportunity being offered as part of Book Week Scotland.”
