Vandals who broke up the Forfar skate park lighting box recently have been criticised by community services vice-convener Colin Brown.
Mr Brown said: “The electricians found that the new fuse box and switches for lighting columns of the skate park had been broken into and smashed up.
“The sensor which triggered the light activation was also smashed.
“This vandalism is wholly unacceptable as it not only puts lives in danger but costs the public purse unnecessary expense.”
He added: “We have now removed the new control box and sensors and installed a different system into the main switch boxes for the area.
“The lights are timed to go off at 10pm, as was part of the planning condition for the facility.”
The police have been notified as to the vandalism.
