Forfar sheriff clerk heads back up north

FORFAR Sheriff Court last week bid farewell to sheriff clerk Mike Herbertson, wo is returning to his north-east roots.

The former Highland League footballer arrived in Angus in 1991 as sheriff clerk in Arbroath and also worked in Dundee before a move to Forfar in 2005.

Sheriff Kevin Veal said Mr Herbertson had been a well-liked and personable sheriff clerk.

At a surprise farewell gathering in Forfar he recalled how he had originally met Mr Herbertson in Elgin in 1985 while on temporary sheriff duty there.

Mr Herbertson is returning to Aberdeen, where he began his career in 1978.
