The STAFF at Johnston Carmichael, Scotland’s largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants – which has an office in Forfar – have raised over £40,000 for Scottish charities.
After a year-long campaign, during which its employees organised a range of fund-raising activities including a ‘fancy dress zipslide’, the firm raised a total of £40,000. The main beneficiary, Alzheimer Scotland, which helps people and their families deal with dementia have received a cheque for £11,137.
The cash was handed over to Alzheimer Scotland’s Trusts and corporate fund-raising manager, Catherine Thomas, in Edinburgh. The funds will be used to help fund vital services including Alzheimer Scotland’s freephone Dementia Helpline (0808 808 3000).
The remaining £30,000 has been shared amongst a variety of other good causes, including Grampian Child Bereavement Network, The Sick Kids Friends Foundation and the Archie Foundation, after each of the firm’s 11 offices chose which local charity to raise cash for.
The £40,000 from Johnston Carmichael’s latest campaign brings the grand total raised for charity by the firm over the last nine years to £347,000.
Johnston Carmichael’s Shaun Millican commented: “To raise £40,000 for charity over a one year period is a fantastic effort and I’d like to thank our team of staff – each and every member of which has supported our fundraising efforts wholeheartedly, with real enthusiasm and commitment. By supporting Alzheimer Scotland and other charities we feel we are able to give something back to the many communities that we live and work in throughout Scotland.”
