Forfar Rotary Club pulled out all the stops and pulled in the crowds on Thursday evening when the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
The town centre was filled with families who joined in the festive celebrations.
It was a night for the whole town to celebrate but it was a special night for the younger generation.
The event was organised by the Rotary Club but they were assisted on many fronts to make the evening a great success.
The gathering crowd was entertained by Forfar Instrumental Band and by ‘Frozen’ characters from Forfar Musical Society’s production of ‘Cinderella’, which runs next week in the Reid Hall.
Forfar Athletic’s mascot, Baxter the Bridie, also made an appearance leaving Station Park to switch on the Christmas lights.
Rotarian Jim McCluskey was MC for the night and a vote of thanks was given to all by President-elect Bill Reid.
The proceedings reached fever pitch when Santa, along with Mrs Claus and the Elves, arrived in the sleigh to a great reception.
The very well behaved crowd was soon streaming past the sleigh to be rewarded with an orange and a sweet from the elves before handing over their letters to Santa and Mrs Claus.
The Rotary Club thanked Tesco and Asda for their donation of the oranges and sweets, a gesture which was much appreciated.
