A second-floor flat at Goosecroft appears to have been extensively damaged by fire this morning (Friday) around 11am.

Two units of Scottish Fire and Rescue from Forfar and one from Dundee attended, and removed one person from the building, handing them to paramadics for treatment.

After the blaze had been extinguished, all windows in the flat and the adjacent flat were opened top allow wisps of smoke to escape, and there was a strong smell of burning.

Four sets of breathing apparatus were in use, and one hosereel.

Fire control has confirmed that the outbreak has been extinguished, although Firefighters will be in attendance for some time, seeking out hot spots. There were no further persons on the premises.
