Forfar mums and babies enjoyed the first Teddy Bears’ picnic held at Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre on Friday.

Organised by Forfar midwives and health visitors, the picnic aimed to highlight the mums and babies Early Days Group that meets in Forfar as well as share information on the range of infant health topics that are regularly covered at the group’s meetings.

Bookbug co-ordinator and child literacy development office Sylvia Main also joined the mums at the picnic and gave advice on the importance of books and story telling in the development of young children.

The Early Days Group meets at Whitehills every Friday between 1.30 and 3 p.m. and provides the opportunity for new mums to meet other local mums in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The group is supported by health professionals including midwives, health visitors and a breast feeding support worker.

The Early Days Group is supported by Asda’s Community Project.

Andrea Logan, Asda’s Community Life Champion went along and donated a selection of healthy snacks and juice for the mums and babies to enjoy.

Breast feeding support worker Pauline Hutcheon said: “We are delighted that so many mums and babies were able to join us at the teddy bears’ picnic.”
