First market of the new year

The Angus Farmers’ Market will be back in its regular indoor spot at the Strathmore Hall, John Street this Saturday.

Stallholders will be keen to kick-start the New Year with ideas for feeding the family.

Resident chef Hayley will be cooking an alternative Burns Night treat with Haggis fritters and spicy onions and her children’s cookery club will be making oatmeal soda bread that not only tastes fantastic but is kind to your pocket too.

Anyone interested in eating a more healthy diet can find a fantastic range of healthy and delicious produce at the market with water buffalo and highland beef being among the leanest of prime meats.

Arbroath Fisheries also has a fantastic choice of fresh fish and seafood that can be a tasty and healthy alternative to meat and poultry.

Caroline Allan from Good Food, Good Feelings will have fresh green smoothies for customers ready to detox. Caroline makes delicious and nutritious raw foods including onion bread and gluten-free cookies; she is always happy to speak with you about your dietary concerns.

The market loyalty card draw was made at the Christmas market last month and the lucky winner of the £150 worth of market vouchers was Mrs Thomson from Arbroath. Customers can pick up a new loyalty card this month with the next draw in June. Details can be found on the website

Market organisers are keen to encourage new producers to join their growing market to give customers an even bigger choice of quality foods.
