Bargain hunters were in for a treat last Saturday when Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd’s (SATCoL) Forfar charity shop celebrated its first birthday with everything being sold for just £1 for the first hour.
Customers were treated to a whole day of fun filled events and special offers with money off a host of quality donated goods including clothes, accessories, bric-a-brac and household goods. The first 200 customers were also given a special SATCoL branded mug as they made their first purchase at the till.
Arlene McKenna, area manager, said: “Our first birthday party was a way of saying a great big thank you for the wonderful welcome we have received in Forfar during our first year, for the generosity of donors and the support of all our volunteers and valued customers.
“We’ve had a very successful first year of trading and we hope our supporters will continue to think of donating to us when cleaning their wardrobes and homes!”
Profits from the shop are gifted-aided to The Salvation Army to help fund its work throughout the UK. Homelessness services, family tracing, professional addictions services and elderly care are just some of the valuable services provided by the charity.
