Forfar’s first US-themed festival, Scotland’s Americana, was a runaway success at the weekend with hundreds turning out to enjoy the show.

Rescheduled from July 4 after bad weather forced its cancellation, it was housed in the Strathmore Hall at Forfar Mart which proved ideal.

The first event of its kind in the area, Western riding displays were staged alongside exhibits of classic American motorcycles and muscle cars as well as trade stands and live music.

It was organised to raise funds for local charity SaddleUp Ranch, based at Padanaram, and could become an annual fixture in the town’s calendar

Jessica Probst, one of the founders of the charity, said it had been well received by the public: “We had a fantastic turnout and were asked on Sunday if there will be another next year. We’ve already started talking about doing that.”
