The Meffan Diary

The MEFFAN would like to extend a warm invitation to all Forfarians to go and see the wonderful selection of weaving objects, photographs and much more now on display within the museum.

So, if you would like to take a trip down Shuttle Raw or Weaver’s walk and reminisce about the good old, noisy old days of the flax and jute industry, why not pop along to the Meffan?

As a special treat for everyone involved with the jute industry the Meffan will be hosting a brew and a blether session on Thursday, November 8 at 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m,

The Meffan would like to thank everyone who contributed objects and information for the weaving display.

The Meffan is delighted to have a wonderful exhibition by Claire McDonald.

Through her use of raw materials she hopes to reveal hidden aspects of the natural environment. This wonderful exhibition is completely free to view and is definitely not to be missed.

Calling all artists. There is still time to collect your entry form for The Winter Exhibition. The receiving days for all entries are Friday, November 9, and Saturday, November 10, between 10 am and 4 pm.

Please take your completed entry form with you when handing in your entries.

The answer to last month’s mystery object is a basket made from an Armadillo.

Some claws and hair are still visible so, if you are not feeling too squeamish, why not pop in and check it out whilst doing your weekly shop.

This month’s challenge is for children of all ages. In honour of Hallowe’en six ghosts and six bats have hidden themselves in the museum.

Your challenge is to search and find them. Have fun!
