Three top acts have been lined up to appear at Monikie Hall over the next three months.

On Saturday, April 18 Paula Macaskill will take to the stage with her own brand of country, drawing on a musical talent that has been developed from the of two.

Paula began picking out nursery rhymes on the piano and, recognising her interest in music, her parents sent her for formal tuition at the age of five and for Christmas gave her a 48 bass accordion. Along with her teacher Jack Stitt, she started attending ceilidhs and dances from the age of six and has been working ever since.

In the early 1990s she was asked by promoter Stuart Lawrie to appear with a number of Irish artists on tours around the UK such as Dominic Kirwan, Joe Dolan and Brendan Shine to name but a few and has been touring and recording ever since.

On May 29 the hall will be the venue for Mick Flavin and his band. Originally from Ballinamuk, County Longford, His early musical influences include Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Hank Williams and Tex Ritter.

His first guitar cost the princely sum of £4 which he taught himself to play, and from the expertise he acquired playing his guitar and singing, he received an offer at 16 to play in a local band, which lasted two years.

He recorded his first album in 1986, which was an unprecedented success on Pirate Radio Stations that were popular in Ireland at that time. Success followed, and he recorded with Harmac and Ritz Records recording a total of 12 albums and three videos.

Silver and Gold Discs are some of the honours Country Music has rewarded him with but he became the first Irish country artist to be nominated for the Country Music Association Global Artist Award.

Last, but by no means least, favourite Shawn Cuddy and his band will appear at Monikie on Saturday, June 20.

Shawn is a great entertainer singing anything from Country, Irish and up to date music including ‘golden oldies’.

He rocks and sways his way through all the many favourite songs he has recorded much to the delight of his fans that follow him all over the UK and Ireland. Shawn has won many accolades throughout his 26 years as an entertainer and has been awarded a few this year again as he continues to be extremely popular

He is a polished performer and continues to provide first class entertainment achieving chart success several times throughout his career.
