Farmers’ market returns this weekend

The Angus Farmers’ Market will be in the Strathmore Hall, John Street, Forfar this Saturday with lots of summer treats for all the family.

This month it celebrates summer with a feast of Angus fruits and first-class seasonal food and drink.

The market will have 35 stalls this month, giving customers a diverse choice of quality foods, beautiful flowers and fantastic local crafts all under one roof in a friendly stress-free environment. As a special treat for the children over their summer holiday there will be a bouncy castle to entertain them while the adults can sit and have something nice from the market cafe.

Resident chef Hayley will show how to make a fantastic sorbet using Angus strawberries and raspberries; her regular children’s cookery club will be making fun strawberry mice. At 11.30 a.m. there will fun with a competition open to all ages, the winner will be the fastest Sundae maker in town and will receive a tasty prize. Carlotta’s Chocolates, an Angus-based Artisan chocolate maker, will bring her quality chocolates beautifully presented making a perfect for gift or part of your weekend treats.

If you want to get the taste of summer then pick up a bottle of Bouvrage raspberry drink as there is a full pound of Scottish raspberries in every 750ml bottle and it is packed with all the goodness of Scottish quality soft fruit.

The winner of the draw for the loyalty card competition was Liz Fairlie from Letham; Liz will collect her £150 worth of market vouchers this Saturday. New loyalty cards can be found at the information stall with the next draw in December, just in time for the festivities.
