A former Forfar man, whose parents still live in the town, has been appointed to a newly created role with Toyota.
Ewan Shepherd (53), younger son of George and Irene Shepherd of Brechin Road, has been appointed sales director for the Toyota brand in the U.K.
Ewan, who has been the brand’s general manager of sales operations since June 2012, took up his new position at the beginning of this month.
He has responsibility for the delivery of Toyota’s sales aspirations in retail and fleet channels, and the continuing development of its dealer network.
Commenting on his new appointment he said: “I have held a number of roles during my time at Toyota, but I am particularly looking forward to growing Toyota’s sales in the U.K. with our network partners and achieving our combined aims.
“It’s a great time for the company as we continue to roll out hybrid technology across the range, and bring new, exciting products to the U.K.”
Ewan, who was born in Forfar and who was educated at Newcastle Under Lyme when his parents moved south, joined Toyota G.B. in 1999.
He held various field-based roles before his first executive appointment as general manager, operations for the Lexus brand in 2006.
In 2011 he was appointed general manager, fleet and vehicle remarketing before the move to lead the sales operations team in 2012.
Ewan’s previous motor industry experience includes 12 years with Volvo Car U.K., working in various sales and marketing roles.
Ewan is married and lives with his wife, Christine, in Haydon Bridge, Northumberland.
The couple have a son, Sam, and a daughter Megan. He will be based in Epsom, Surrey for his new role. In his spare time Ewan enjoys a wide variety of outdoor sports.
