Forfar Dramatic Society is temporarily homeless, while their East High Street premises undergo conversion from rehearsal to performance space, but that has not interrupted the group’s artistic endeavours.
Not only are they undertaking an extremely adventurous production of Around the World in Eighty Days in the Reid Hall on Thursday, May 12 and Friday May 13 at 7.30pm, and Saturday, May 14 at 2:30pm, but they have just launched a brand new website.
Drew Barnett, Society President, said: “The existing website had served us well for a few years, however, we felt the time was right to give a fresh look to the site. We have included our brand new logo and once more we have a secure online ticket booking service hosted by Ticket Source. The web address is, www.forfardramatic.com, so why not visit the site and let us know, via the ‘contact us’ form, what you think.”
Around the World in Eighty Days follows dashing Victorian adventurer Phileas Fogg who has wagered that he can circumnavigate the world in record time. As he embarks on this epic journey across the globe, little does he know that one of Scotland Yard’s finest – the intrepid Fix of the Yard - is in hot pursuit.
Travelling by any means possible – boats, trains and even an elephant, will our hero make it back in time or will his plans be foiled?
This is a sparkling new version of one of the world’s greatest adventure stories by acclaimed family audience writer Toby Hulse.
A cast of three actors play over 20 characters in this epic tale of adventure, however this is certainly no small scale production. Many members and friends have been busy for weeks behind the scenes constructing set and props, including a life size elephant, identifying, finding and making costume as well as designing lighting and recording sound effects.
Tickets, £10 adults and £8 concessions, can be purchased online at www.forfardramatic.com or from Toppers, 150 East high Street.
