The latest £250 sponsorship cheque donated by the Forfar Roof Truss Company will help purchase kitchen equipment for the Glamis Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.
In their application, leader Tracy Dryburgh explained the group is lucky to have a good kitchen in the hall they use, however they have limited equipment.
She said: “We currently have 38 girls involved in Guiding, along with four Young Leaders and five leaders.
“When we ask the girls what they would like to do at their weekly meetings and at the camps, sleepovers and holidays we offer, cooking and baking is something that always comes up.
“If we were successful in receiving the money, we would use this to purchase kitchen equipment to allow us to provide more opportunities for the girls to cook and bake.
“The older girls within Guides are often keen to learn to cook meals they could make themselves and have plans to make a cookery book of all the food they cook and bake within the three units.
“Once established, we would look at printing this to use as a fundraiser to allow us to buy other equipment.
“The Brownies and Guides enjoy cooking their own meals at camps and we would also purchase some equipment for them to use different methods and be able to try new dishes.”
The group has opened a Senior Section unit in recent weeks for some of the girls who have moved up from Guides; they too are keen to get involved in cooking.
