WORK to improve the Lochside Caravan Park is being undertaken by The Caravan Club during the closed season.
Visitors to the lochside have been met with workmen and diggers as the organisation, which leases the park from Angus Council, continues its improvement programme as part of a £1.25m investment at the park.
After carrying out several minor improvement at the park during 2010, the club brought forward its programmed upgrading of the site by three years.
To avoid disrupting the site’s occupancy, extensive improvements to the pitching areas, service infrastructure and the facilities within the joint reception/amenity building will receive a thorough refurbishment during the winter which will bring the property up to the standards for which The Caravan Club is renowned.
The site attracted more than 18,500 visitors in its first season and Lochside is already on track for raising this to 25,000 visitors each year.
Accounting for approximately £500,000 of off-site spending, the local business community is, according to The Caravan Club, estimated to benefit by at least £2.5 million each year (allowing a conservative multiplier of five to reflect the economic compounding effect).
The park is due to re-open to visitors on April 6, 2012.
