A team of dedicated Guide Dogs’ employees at the Forfar Training School are preparing for an incredible challenge to raise funds for the charity.
On September 17 Susan Malcolm, Michelle Wilson, James Forbes, Charlotte Finch and Laura Davidson are taking on the Coniston Challenge.
They will each take part in three gruelling tasks - a 10km hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston; a 12km mountain bike through the forests of Grizedale and a one mile kayak along Coniston water - in one day.
The team has a fundraising target of £2000 and, to date, has attracted donations totalling £1300.
A spokesperson for the team - calling themselves ‘Thistle Dhu’ said: “We have been training since about March for the event. We all do each part of the challenge - the hike, bike and kayak!
“At the moment we have around £1300 of our £2000 target, between the donations on our Just-Giving page and money raised at our open day last week.
“The money from the cake and candy stall, as well as from one of our volunteer’s stalls at the open day, went towards Coniston so in total we got about £600.”
The team has also organised a bingo tea which will be held at the Royal British Legion Forfar Branch on Wednesday, September 7 at 7.30 pm which will help boost their funds.
