Club enjoys physic garden visit

Friockheim and District Garden Club’s July visit was to the magnificent garden at The Murrell, near Aberdour in Fife, by kind permission of Alistair Bowen while lunch was at Balbirnie House, near Glenrothes.

The annual garden party in August was in president Nora Craig’s garden at Dunnichen, when the inclement summer weather relented to give a very pleasant afternoon, matched by the delicious fare on offer, prepared by committee members.

The final visit of this year’s summer programme was to Logie House, near Kirriemuir, where Terrill Dobson followed up her winter talk on herbal medicines.

She gave members a conducted tour of the garden’s immaculate plots where plants with medicinal properties are grown in groups depending on the organs of the body affected. Elizabeth Steven proposed a vote of thanks.

The club’s annual general meeting will be in Friockheim School on Wednesday, September 9. The business meeting will be followed by a presentation on scented plants by committee member Evelyn Young.
