THE latest recipient of a £100 sponsorship award courtesy of Forfar’s 10 Cafe Bar is the Chimes Playgroup.
Representatives of the local playgroup, which meets in the East and Old Parish Church hall, popped along to the cafe bar in Castle Street last Tuesday morning to accept the £100 cheque.
Chimes Playgroup was established in 1996 and is funded by through the government, with the support of hard working parents spending their free time organising various activities.
The funds raised by the parents go towards facility maintenance and improvement, supplying consumables and replacing worn-out toys for the children.
Last year, the money raised through coffee mornings, quizzes and a fire walk enabled the playgroup to start the process of redesigning the outside play area.
“We have laid down soft play material to allow the children to play outside safely,” explains vice-chairperson Angie Wilson.
“With the 10 Cafe Bar help we can continue to further improve the play area, by making it not only a safe but a fun and exciting place for children to explore.
“We also support the Eco Schools Project and organise such things as litter collection and recyling with the children.
“In the spirit of this initiative we are looking at options for an environmental and wildlife project within the grounds.”
