HOSPITALFIELD House in Arbroath has a busy programme lined up for the next few weeks.
This weekend it will host it’s ‘First Write Badly’ classes and courses, from Friday through to Sunday.
If you’ve always had an urge to write but don’t know where to start, or have already put pen to paper but don’t know how to improve, then this is the course for you.
There will be an introduction to the basics of creative writings, exercises to inspire and help to understand how you can prune and shape your work so that it reflects accurately and well all that you hope to convey.
On Saturday there will be an evening of music and poetry at Hospitalfield’s Burns Supper, directed by artist Jacqueline Donachie.
There will be contributions from amongst others, Ross Birrell, Alex Linklater and Roddy Buchanan, Nuno Sacremento, Rebecca Gordon-Nesbitt and Angie Smith.
The Wednesday tours begin again on Wednesday, February 6’ from 2 to 4 p.m. Led by one of the very well informed guides, these tours are an opportunity for an intimate, patient, historic tour of the house, it’s architecture, gardens, collections and interiors.
Tours include afternoon tea in the kitchen.
The music events for the next few weeks include Jazz@Hospitalfield.
These run on Saturday, January 26, with John Burgess’s Select Six; on Saturday, February 16, with Swing 13 and on Saturday, February 23, with The Onion Club.
