Forfar-based McIntosh of Strathmore has been named the top seventh food brand in Scotland - climbing one place from their 2015 ranking.

For the last three years the company has moved up the chart in a survey conducted by Scottish Grocer with Kantar and sits alongside other iconic brands such as Graham’s, Tunnock’s, Irn Bru, Malcolm Allan and Mackie’s.

A company spokesman said: “We were delighted to hear of the ranking success of our best-selling ready meal brand in the Scottish Grocer Brand Review 2016. Our McIntosh of Strathmore brand has gone from strength to strength and another rise in this review reflects a development of the brand and its year on year growth.

“This year has been yet another successful one for Strathmore Foods, from the launch of our new Cone Bakes brand and the release of new McIntosh products. We very much look forward to an exciting year in 2017

“The latest financial year to the end of June 2016 saw us sell over 9.6 million McIntosh ready meals and pies across Scotland. 6.1 per cent up on the previous year, and does not take into account sales of the brand in the foodservice and food-to-go sectors, two areas the company look forward to focusing on for 2017. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our hard working team and our loyal customers who have helped us get here and continue to support our organisation and the brands”
